Cytomegalovirus (CMV), a virus of the herpes family which is spread via bodily fluids, is the most common cause of non-genetic congenital hearing loss. We currently serve about 30 children who are deaf as a result of a CMV infection. Their cochlear implants help them to hear and communicate, but many of these children face greater challenges due to other effects of the CMV infection.
We are continuously learning more about CMV and how to manage it. Please save the date for a day of learning and sharing on CMV at The Hearing House on Friday 20th November from 10am – 3pm
This workshop will include presentations by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals. We welcome parents, educators, therapists, early interventionists, audiologists, occupational therapists, nurses and general practitioners to join us.
